Best albums 2020

1. Vulkan - Technatura

From the first riff, you know you are in for a treat. "The Visual Hex" starts of with a killer riff and continues with some melodic marmelade from singer Jimmy Lindblad. The song goes on for nine minutes, but it feels like three. The song is so damn good. After a short interlude the album continues with two more great songs, "Redemption Simulations" and "Bewildering Conception of Truth".

Then, all of a sudden Vulkan decides to turn to their native tongue, swedish. A masterstroke it seems as these songs are absolutely fantastic. You immediatly start thinking of other great swedish bands like "Skraeckoedlan", who released one of the best album of 2019 in "Earth" and "Kent", the kings of alternative music in Sweden. "Rekviem" should be a classic for years to come, it's that good!

"Spökskepp" follows after that, and it's also really freakin good. After the fantastic "Marans Ritt", the album returns to english again and ends with a trio of marvellous songs.

Genre vice this is somewhere between progressive rock, stoner and alternative metal/rock, kinda like if Haken, Tool and Radiohead had a bilingual and musical, baby genius.

Listen to "Blinding Ornaments", "Rekviem" and "The Visual Hex". After that, when you realize that all the songs are freakin awesome, you listen to the whole album over and over and over and over again.

Swedens best known secret. Surely worth a lot more love? This is perfection on a platter!, (or actually it's a double album). 9/10

2. Slift - Ummon

French space rock/heavy psych trio. "Ummon", the first song of the album has it all, a heavy ass opening riff, spacious cosmic interludes, a kickass smooth verse and some killer guitar work. Second song "It's coming" is more of a kraut piece with a mauling monotonous bass riff clearing the way for some tasty axe play and some short Kraftwerk influenced intonal chanting. Third song "Thousand Helmets of Gold" is perhaps the most amendable tune. Again, with some fantastic guitar work from axe wielder Jean F. Last two minutes are bewildering.

"Citadel on a Satellite" starts of with a crunching riff, before quickly slowing down into a calm, rare and quiet piece of singing. The song quickly turns, back to the smashing first riff before again taking a u-turn into uncharted territory. Some crazy drum beats and rhytms joined by awesome bass play nurtures the song until it finally lands in a newly mangled pile of fresh linen for the listener to rest in and gain back some energy.

The album continues in the same style. Amazing all the way through, with no bad bits what so ever. Listen to "Dark Was Space, Cold Were the Stars", "Citadel on a Satellite", "Son Dong's Cavern" and "Lions, Tigers and Bears".

Best album cover of the year too! Monster of an album! 8.5/10

3. Lowrider-Refractions

Swedens answer to Kyuss? First album came back in 2000 and was very well received. It took them 20 years to record their follow up and it is equally as good as the debut. "Red River" gives the album the best possible start. A stoner hit, if there ever was one!

Second song, "Ode to Ganymede" (=A celebration of Jupithers biggest moon) kinda sounds like "Queens of the Stone Age" on a fuzz trip. Another great song!

The album continues with "Sernanders Krog", which was the a restaurant/bar where Lowrider first played the piece that were to become the song"Sernanders Krog", atleast that is how I understand it. Another great song! "Ol' Mule Pepe" is a "middle of the record tune", but then "Sun Devil/M87" comes in and that's another great song. The album ends with the best song of the album, "Pipe rider". Truly a candidate for song for the year also.

Refractions is a heavy, hypnotic, psychedelic, fuzzy and marvellous record. Listen to "Pipe Rider".

Ridiculously good! 8/10

4. Kryptograf - Kryptograf

Kryptograf hails from Bergen, Norway. They are, as they write on their spotify page, "Inspired by the heavy sounds of the late 60's". The album starts of with "The Veil". It sounds a bit like Norways own version of Graveyard. Second song "Omen" screams Black Sabbath but with less distortion and with a Roky Erikson like chorus. Very good! Third song "Seven" is a slow builder, but a fantastic song where guitarists Odd Erlend Mikkelsen and Vegard Strand get to really shine. Krypograf have previously listed "Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats" as an influence and that is pretty clear on the excellent "Crimson Horizon".

"Sleeper", perhaps the song with the most "hit-potential" but also with the coolest verses. The ending is also one of the best with mauling guitars fuzzing out in a beautiful outro. "Ocean" will make you want to start your computer and play "Diablo".

The album ends with some master riffing on the very Sabbath like "New Colossus". 8/10

5. Mr Bungle-The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo

Biggest suprise of the year! Scott Ian (Anthrax) and Dave Lomardo (Slayer) team up with Mike Patton (Faith no More) to re record a Mr Bungle demo from 1985. What we get here is rampaging, galloping thrash metal of the highest order. The occasional twisted bits are here of course. This is after all a Mr Bungle album, so why not through in a bit och "La cucaracha"(YES, that song! =cockroach=kackerlacka) in "Hypocrites/Habla Espanol O Muere". Speak spanish or die. Haha! Crawl down into fetal position and prepare your earholes for destruction with "Spreading The Thighs of Death" and "Anarchy Up Your Anus"(yes, those are real titles). 8/10

6. Yuri Gagarin - Outskirts Of Reality

Swedish heavy, space rock. Mix Hawkwind with Earthless and you know what this sounds like. Very good stuff! First song "QSO" is an absolute rocker with so much energy. Absolutely insane! First swedes in space? Christer Fuglesang is not in the band...The album ends in the best, possible way, with "The Outskirts of Reality". 7.5/10

7. Dungen - Live

Fantastic live album from Swedens greatest prog/psych export. 7.5/10

8. Jonathan Wilson - Dixie Blur

A homage to 70's country/folk/americana rock, with lots of fiddle, flutes, acoustic guitars and pedal steel. Check out "Oh Girl". "Fun for the Masses", "Riding the Blinds" and "Korean Tea". 7.5/10

9. Motorpsycho - The All Is One

Norwegian band with different style on every single album. This is the 25th album they have released (not counting ep:s and live albums). This is the shit! It is a bit all over, with some progressive/psychedelic rock, beatles pop, rock. The rest is space rock, with the long N.O.X. (devided into several tracks) in the fore front. 7.5/10

10. Ring Van Möbius - The 3rd Majesty

Where the fudge did these guys come from? What's up with Norway and new good music? Just listen to "The Seven Movements of the Third Majesty". Even bits of King Crimson, Cathedral(that bass that also is prominent in Änglagård basist Johan Brands sound) and Van Der Graaf Generator. Yes, you've heard it all before, but this is worth a listen, or two. 7.5/10

11. Elephant Tree-Habits

I really wasnt paying attention the first time i heard this. It almost went in the "throw away pile". Heavy, heavy Monolordesque guitars but with a very melodic feel over the songwriting. Relaxing but ponderous. "The masters of combining gloomy atmosphere with head-bobbing grooves." Doom, stoner, post rock, melancholic, captivating, melodic, wellwritten rock! From the UK. Check out "Bird", "Faceless"and "Sails" 7.5/10

12. Döda havet-Tid och rum

Swedish melancholic rock/pop with a modern progressive/alternative sound, in the veins of other swedish bands like Khoma, Vulkan, and Kent, but also international acts like Anathema, with great melodies and wellwritten songs, beautifully backed up by some stunning instrumentation. The album is sung in swedish. Check out "Levande eller död", "Arcana", "Atlantis mitt" and "Hjärnspöket". 7.5/10

13. Haken - Virus

Haken back with another good album. Probably topping a lot of prog charts out there. For me it doesnt quite get there. It starts of like a typical 7/10 album but ends on a high note with "Messiah Complex IV and V". 7.5/10

14. Elds Mark-Elds Mark

Norsk skogsprog=Scandinavian progressive folk. Features two members of the Norwegian retro-prog outfit Jordsjö. Lend an ear to "Vår skog". 7/10

15. Wobbler - Dwellers Of The Deep

Yes called and wanted their sound back. Great album from the norwegian progers.

16. Lykantropi - Tales To Be Told 7/10

17. Gösta Berlings Saga-Konkret Musik 7/10

Fantastic song and fantastic video for "Konkret Musik".

18. Fish - Weltschmerz

Second half of the album is fantastic. "Weltschmertz", "Little man what now?", "Garden of Remembrance", "Waterley Steps (end of the line)" and "Rose of Damascus") 7/10

19. Kungens män-trappmusik

Swedish jam band in the veigns of Träd, gräs och stenar. Very fascinating band! Take your googles and satellite discs closer to this clip: 7/10

20. Dizzy Mizz Lizzy - Alter Echo

Denmarks finest back with another good album. Singer Tim Christensens solo album "Honeyburst" is a big favourite, but this is a pretty good album filled with loads of good melodies and tasty instrumentation. 7/10

More from 2020 (not in any particular order)

Easy Fall-Anyway anytime

Yes. Umeå delievers again. Isolation Years, Christian Kjellvander, Jason Isbell and Ryan Adams come to mind when listening to "Easy Falls" debut album on vinyl. Get it now. Its great! Listen to "Lovers Be". 7/10

Thåström - Klockan Två På Natten, Öppet Fönster

Listen to "Brev till 10e våningen" and "Bluesen i Malmö". WOW! 7/10

Swedish AOR hardrockers from Örnsköldsvik. Listen to "Living on the run". 7/10

H.E.A.T. - H.E.A.T. II

Last album to feature singer Erik Grönwall. Good way to end his carrier as H.e.a.t singer. This album is filled with rockers. Listen do "Come Clean", "Rise", "One by One" and "Dangerous Ground", Now back with original singer Kenny Leckremo. 7/10

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - K.G.

Automation, automation, automation. Loads of middle eastern psych. raga stuff going on. Fantastic, What a surprise! Check out "Minimum brain size", "Hungry Wolf of Fate" and "Oddlife" too. Having released 27 albums, ep:s and live recordsTenta since 2012 makes them one of the most productive bands out there. Obviously far from everything is top notch and that is perhaps this bands biggest problem. This album is no exception. It's got some absolute bangers of songs, but also a few duds. If all songs were as good as the ones I mentioned this would end at top 10. 7/10

Bob Dylan-Rough and Rowdy Days 6.5/10

Ryan Adams-Wednesdays

All a side, some good songs on this album for sure. Listen to "I'm Sorry And I Love You", Who Is Going to Love Me Now, if Not You?", "Birmingham" and "Dreaming You Backwards". 7/10

Pain of Salvation-Panther

Don't let the single "Panther" lure you away from listening to this album. There are some tunes here that you need to hear! Listen to "Unfuture" first. If you are a drummer and you want something to test your skills against then take a look at this video for "Restless Boy".

Done? Now, go listen to "Species" and "Icon"(best track on the album). 6.5/10

John Petrucci - Terminal Velocity

John Petrucci finally releases another album. Mike Portnoy on drums and this is very good. At least half of the album would easily fit on a great Dream Theater album. Some duds, but thats ok. Fantastic news to that the guys are getting back together again with Tony Levin to record another /hopefully) majestic album. 7/10

Skator-år

Sweden, Umeå. Swedish folk, psych, alternative pop goodness. With a voice that could cut through...Björk meets Bridget St John meets Kate Bush meets Linda Perhacs. Tack Skator! Lose yourself with "Din tur". 7/10

Lucifer - III

Nicke Andersson and Johanna and CO return with yet another great album. Nicke is really at his best when he gets to write his 70s rock. 7/10

Hurula - Jehova

Another great album by former Masshysteri singer. Listen to "Jehova". 7/10

Kansas - The Absence Of Presence (15)

They have been around for a very long time and the new album by the guys is really good. New and fresh though? Well... 6.5/10

Shaman Elephant-Wide awake but Still Asleep.

Norwegian psychedelic rock with a mix of stoner, retro, progressive, jam, acid stuff. Hold your ears in the general direction of "H.M.S. Death, Rattle and Roll or make take a few dance moves on the psychedelic rock dance floor with "Traveller". 7/10

Pure Reason Revolution - Eupnea

Very pleasent listen. Progressive pleasure! Ears directed towards "Silent Genesis" and "Ghosts & Typhoons. This one is a grower. Beware! 7/10

Stone Temple Pilots - Perdida 6.5/10

The Paralydium Project- Worlds Beyond

Melodic, progressive metal from Sweden. Starts of good already on the first track "Within the Sphere" (not counting the intro "Enter Paralydium". "Synergy" is even better and the good songs just keeps on piling up. Good stuff! 7/10

Lazuli-Le Fantastique envol de Dieter Böhm 6/10

Khruangbin-Mordecai

More inoffensive noodling from Kraungbin which is as enjoyable as it is predictable. -Doppz. Groovy and funky but pretty standard stuff. Listening devices turned to "Connaissais de Face", . Classic 6/10

Ball - Like You Are..... I Once Was...Like I Am - You Will Never Be
Swedish hard-rock band formed by the mysterious Syrék Ball and his two older brothers. 😊 Very hard, very fuzzy, very nice. 6.5/10

Windom End - Perspective Views

Ex Moon Safari drummer Tobias Lundgren joins up with fellow swedes to record this progressive rock album. The results are good, although a bit to Flower Kingsesque at times. For some reason Flower kings has never stuck with me. Good album though! 7/10

Christian Kjellvander & Tonbruket - Doom Country 6.5/10

DGM-tragic separation

Italian progressive metal. Check out if you like bands like Symphony X, Dali's Dilemma and Dream Theater. 6/10

Onsegen Ensemble-Fear

A heavy progressive rock band from Finland. A fine mix of post rock, progressive metal, world music etc. Tool influences are there for sure but this is with more folk/world/eastern/jazz influences. Really good when instrumental. The singing however is atrocious. Luckily there is not much of that on here. The chanting is cool tough! The albums drags on a bit at the end, with every song kind of blending together without finding that little extra umpf. Ear organs will gladly enjoy a bit of "Stellar" or perhaps "Lament of Man". 6.5/10

Ozzy Osbourne - Ordinary Man

I've seen Ozzy and Black Sabbath live several times, and each time been struck by the poor quality of Ozzys voice. To be able to get that voice that I heard all those times, to sound this good on this album is nothing but a miracle. The song writing is back on par again too after a couple of dud albums. There are a some good songs on here. Listen to "All My Life", "Ordinary Man (feat. Elton John)", "Under the Graveyard". To bad it doesn't last the whole album through. 6/10

All Them Witches-Nothing as the Ideal

American psychedelic/stoner rock band. Their 6th album. Ear modul set for "The Children of Coyote Woman", "41", "See you next fall", "Lights out". 7/10

Midnight - Rebirth By Blasphemy

Midnight is an american speed/heavy metal, death n roll band and "Rebirth By Blasphemy" is their fifth studio album. Not particularly my cup of tea but this is pretty good stuff. Great riffin and good songs. Check out the album titled song "Rebirth by Blasphemy" and "Raw Attack". 5/10

Möster!-Dust Breathing

Norwegian prog/psych/jazz all star band featuring Kjetil Møster and members from Motorpsycho and Elephant9. Listen to "The Bonfire, The Sun"and "Organ of Bodies II-Tentactility" and "Organ of Bodies III-Palpantice". 7/10

The End-Allt är intet Kjetil Mönster, Mats Gustavsson, Sofia Jernberg, Anders Hana, Greg Saunier project. Avant Garde jazz/free jazz, folk.

Enslaved

Whats up with all the black metal bands going into progressive rock/metal territory? N/A

PENDRAGON - Love Over Fear

Neo prog from Britain. Recommended for fans of IQ, Arena, Marillion(Hogarth) etc. Very nice, but a bit to polished. Well produced, written and performed. Totally safe. Listen to "Eternal Light (Love over Fear). 7/10

LONELY ROBOT - Feelings Are Good

Solo project by John Mitchell from It Bites, Arena, Frost, Kino etc. You can hear its John Mitchell for sure. It reminds of his other side project, Kino. The Lonely Robot started of as a trio of albums about alienation and isolation. If you like his earlier material you will like this. Nothing new or groundbreaking though. Listen to "Crystalline" and "Keeping People as Pets". 6/10

Muriel Grossmann - Quiet Earth

Nice jazz album by austrian alto, soprano, tenor saxophonist, singer and composer Muriel Grossmann. 7/10

King Buffalo-dead star

Set the ear listening controls for "Red Star pt 1 & 2" 6/10

Misantropic-Catharsis

There blend of metal, trash and hardcore is great. Guitarist Erik "Eken" Lindberg is a riff maestro. Swedish outfit from Umeå. 6/10

Blameful Isles - Chimerical

Daniel Israelsson (Hong Faux, Truckfighters) aka "Blameful Isles" with his electronic/jazz/drum/bass album "Chimerical". "A magical journey into a fairy world, connecting us directly with nature and spirits of the natural world." 6/10

Bell Witch/Aerial Ruin - Stygian Bough Vol. 1

Slow, haunting funeral doom mixed with acoustic neo folk when Bell Witch and Aerial Ruin combine on this fine album. Good stuff indead but beware, you'll need a long ass coffee break to be able to get to the end of this 5 track album. 6/10

Soft Power - Brink Of Extinction

Jazz fusion from Finland. Smooth stuff. Get your jazz hands ready and listen to "Brink of Extrinction" or "Window of Opportunity". 6/10

The Lickerish Quartet-Threesome vol 1.

Former Jellyfish members Roger Joseph Manning Jr, Tim Smith and Eric Dover join together again to record this EP. One great song came out of it. Listen to "Lighthouse Spaceship". 6/10

The Hypnagogics - Endless Nights

Swedish 70s retro rock outfit. Good vocalist in Lina Paasijoki. 6/10

Slomosa - Slomosa 6.5/10

Emma Ruth Rundle & Thou - May Our Chambers Be Full

Emma parterners up with Thou to make a heavy sludge/doom/post rock album. Heavy! Doomy! Listen to "Ancestral Recall", "The Valley" and "Into Being". 5/10

Fay Bill - Countless Branches 6.5/10

Pineapple Thief - Versions Of The Truth

Worth listening to just for the drummer Gavin Harrison (King Crimson/Porcupine Tree), a fantastick drummer. Sadly the writing of songs is bland. Make your ears go bigger for "Driving Like Maniacs" though. Perhaps continue with "Leave me be" and "The Game" aswell. 6/10

Psychlona-venus trip 6.5/10

Wolftooth - Valhalla 6/10

Avatar-Hunter Gatherer

I would've never listened to this if my friend hadn't suggested I should. Swedish band Avatar play alternative metal/melodic death metal. Whatever that means lol. I think of bands like Slipknot, Marilyn Manson and Meshuggah. This shit is heavy! First song of the album "Silence in the Age of Apes" is a ripper! A nice first listen, but nothing more. N/A

OZO - Saturn N/A

Solitär - 1989

Solitär is the solo outlet for Mikael Tuominen, known from the Swedish psych bands Kungens Män, Fanatism, Automatism and Eye Make The Horizon. 1989 is the debut album under this moniker. New wavey art/indie/dream pop/rock. Listen to "Awake" 6/10

Cory Wong, Jon Batiste-Meditations.

Ambient Jazz. Very soothing. 6/10

Fiona Apple-Fetch The Bolt Cutters

Critically acclaimed and on a lot of lists for this years best albums. Im not to sure though. Its mostly just weird. I guess I need some more listens...Try with "Heavy Balloon" and "Ladies". N/A (Ratings not available due to recipient(me) not mature enough/ready for greatness)

Prins Svart - Under Jord

Swedish 70s hardrockers Prins Svart return with yet another good album. Loads of guest singers on this one. I like the first two a little bit better but this is worth a listen or two. 6/10

Merryweather Stark - Rock Solid N/A

Smashing Pumpkins, The - CYR N/A

Organic Pulse Ensemble-The Light Comes Black Again

Jazz/Spiritual Jazz. Gustav Horneij is the man behind this project. He composed, played and recorded this by himself. "The album tells a story about that cycle, first the sun descending marks the beginning of the long dark. As we step further into Winter we're given time to reflect on the Mighty Cold coming from the north." -Urbanwaves. A beautiful, wellwritten album. 6.5/10

Flaming Lips - American Head 6/10

Sons Of Apollo - MMXX Supergroup Sons of Apollo returns with a very Dream Theateresque album. Album starter "Goodbye Divinity" is a banger. Overall sound of the album sends big "Falling into infinity" vibes. Good album! "King of Delusion" and "Fall to Ascend" are great tracks! 6/10

Strokes - The New Abnormal 6/10

Hällas - Conundrum 6/10

Moloken - Unveilance Of Dark Matter 6/10

Pearl Jam - Gigaton (2Lp)

I really don't get with the big, big artists like Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins etc. The potiental is there of course, but the music coming out is so safe, and dare I say it, boring...It is good and all, but it is, to use a swedish saying, very "mellanmjölk"(safe/bland). 6/10

Isbell Jason & The 400 Unit - Reunion

As per usuall with Jason Isbell this is very well played and well written americana. He has a great voice and the album has a very nice sound to it. It sometimes gets a bit to polished, without that real glow to it. It is very hard to not appreciate, but equally hard to summon the interest further than realizing it is a really good album. Check out "Running with Our Eyes Closed", "Overseas". 6/10

Neal Morse - Sola Gratia

Former Spocks Beard frontman return with yet another prog album, sounding just like the other ones he has done. He stills sings his heart out for Jesus aswell. Still good. Nothing new here. Move along. 6/10

Not allowed on the list for obvious reasons:

Neil Young - Homegrown Yes, this was written in the 70s, so I guess that is cheating somewhat, but holy moly what a good album this is! Neil wanted to go back to the sound of "Harvest". The record never got released, until this year. Ears widened for "Mexico", "Seperate Ways" and "Vacancy". 8/10

Not worth checking out if you don't have to:

Archimedes badkar-A Perfect Time

There are essentially four songs to check out. Rest is kinda bad. First song "Bells for Thomas Mera Gartz", "Word with the Nighttripper/The hoodoo will not be E-mailized". ", "Guardian Angels" and "Legacy". The rest are more or less...not good. 4/10

Puscifier-Existential Reckoning

Maynard James Keenan (Tool and A Perfect Circle) side project. Stating he has a better songwriting chemestry with Puscifer band members Carina Round and Mat Mitchell than with his mates in Tool and A Perfect Circle might be accurate. I fail to hear it though. This is highly experimental, artsy synth/alternative pop/rock. More interesting and fascinating than wellwritten and exciting I would say. Do not investigate this further! 3/10

The Flower Kings - Islands

Same OLD Flower Kings. Nothing new! 5/10

Caspian - On circles

Caspian is an american post rock band. I don't know what it is about these kind of post rock album but they don't seem to get to me. I should like this alot more than I do. Some stuff do stick out, like the riffing on "Collapser", the smoooooth 7/4 beat on "Flowers of Light" or the melancholic, soft, atmospheric, wellwritten album ender "Circles on Circles". I guess I need some more spins of this album, or this simple isn't for me. Bring your ears a little bit closer to the speekers and blast "Collapser" out loud. 5/10

Osees, The oh Sees-Protean Threat

Oh dear. This is all over the place. Messy garage punk, crazy psychedelic noice, wacky speedy, energetic rock. Having released four albums, perhaps they could have slowed down a bit to clear some of the songs on here. "Wing run" makes something weird happen in my brain. Not sure if thats a positive though. I'm sure however that "If I had my way" is an awesome tune that makes me wanna dance! "Toadstool" is pretty cool too. 5/10

Arabs In Aspic ‎- Madness and Magic

Progressive rock from Trondheim, Norway. Their 7th studio album. Influences are quite clear. You hear a bit of Genesis, some Pink Floyd and King Crimson, but most of all Porcupine Tree, both soundwise and lyrically. "I Vow to Thee, My Screen"...Although these influences are pretty clear, they to have their own sound. Im just not sure if that is a good thing. I get Flower Kings vibes. I don't like Flower kings. If you are still interested in hearing what they sound like I would suggest that you try "Lullaby for Modern Kids, Part 1". 5/10

Elder - Omens

Listen to "Halcyon". Much better instrumental. 4/10

Wax Machine-Earthsong of Silence

Uk psychedelic rock/folk. Pretty enjoyable, but nothing groundbreaking. Gets really good when the funky flute solos gets going on "Sun Dance" for example. Also listen to "Turiya". 5/10

The Third Mind-The Third mind

With Dave Alvin from The Blasters on axe, David Immergluck(fantastic name) from Counting Crows and Camper van Beethoven etc. Opener "Journey in Satchidananda" is a great opener. After that it goes south. Fast. Stay away from "The Dolphins". The album gets better by the end with "East West" and "Reverberation", but best stay away from this one. 3/10

CB3-Aeons

Aka Charlottas burnin' trio is a swedish progressive rock band. Rock jams and mind-bending cosmic soundscapes. CB3 brings the spirit of psychedelic music to the 21th century; with a style that ranges from heavy psych rock jams like Jimi Hendrix to delicate atmospheric passages like Pink Floyd and progressive rhythms like King Crimson and Mahavishnu Orchestra. Close your eyes, set your mind free and drift away into the musical universe of CB3. Listen to "Acid Haze". 5/10

Black Helium - The Wholly Other

Not inventing anything new, playing a mix between stoner/retro/psych rock. Hailing from the British Isles, Great Britain, England, London. 5.5/10

Course of Fate - Mindweaver

Progressive metal from Norway. Borderline power metal, which is never a good thing. Bend your ears west (if you are in Sweden, otherways bend your ears which ever way Norway is) and listen to "Utopia". 4/10

Dyble Longdon - Between A Breath And A Breath

Judy Dyble (Fairport Convention, Trader Horne) teams up with David Longdon (Big Big Train) for this progressive folk/rock album. Sadly Judy died before the album was released. R.i.p. Judy. 4/10

Electric Hydra - S/T

Swedish band. Hardrock with great vocals by Sanne Karlsson. Released in november 2020. Hearing aids up for "Iron Lung". 5/10

Gathering of Kings - Discovery

Night Flight Orchestra goes Progressive aor? All Star Band. Melodies galore. Good? Yeah. Fun? Hmm. Click yourself on to "December" with Nocturnal Rites vocalist Jonny Lindkvist. 4/10

Hollow Ship-Future Remains.

Funky psych from Sweden. Thomas E Frank from "Den stora vilan". Funky, but pretty forgettable. Ok. 3/10

Pacific Range-High upon a mountain

Americana/country rock. 5/10

Tame Impala - The Slow Rush

This years biggest disappointment for sure 3/10

Tumor Yves - Heaven To A Tortured Mind

Funk, soul, bit of psychedelia. Very Prince. 6/10

Callahan Bill - Gold Record 5/10

Rikard Sjöblom's Gungfly - Alone Together 5/10

Laser Dracul - Hagridden 5.5/10

Lanegan Mark - Straight Songs Of Sorrow 5/10

The Night Flight Orchestra - Aeromantic 6/10

Sturgill Simpson-Cuttin' Grass Vol. 1 N/A

Wrong side of country for me.

/Kristoffer Pettersson
