Kommentar: Drag the Waters, Living Through Me (Hells Wrath), Suicide Note pt 1 m.fl borde ha platsat här, men The Great Southern Trendkill är nog den jämnaste och med undervärderade Pantera-plattan vilket gör jobbet att välja max 3 låtar otroligt svårt.

2. Låt: Mouth for War

Kommentar: Helt omöjligt att bara välja tre låtar från Vulgar Display of Power. Tur att det går att välja live-spår för att dryga ut...
"Allegedly, the 'Vulgar Display of Power' cover face guy was whacked 31 times before the shot was secured." Andra hävdar att han aldrig blev slagen eller att det snarare var över 100 gånger...

3. Låt: Cemetary Gates

Kommentar: En låt som jag är uppvuxen med och som jag uppskattade även när min musiksmak var som mjukast. Cliff Richard och ZZ top var mina öron mest van vid, men när min vän Elias gång efter annan fortsatte att pumpa sitt blandband med bl.a. Helloween och Pantera kunde jag till slut inte väja för för mina öron alldeles för hårda soundet.

"(Dimebag) Darrell had found this new noisy ass fu--ing pedal, and he came up with this heaving monstrous fu--ing riff using this pedal," he said. "I loved it because it was screechy, fu--ed up, and original-sounding—and ugly at the same time...Also the drum beat and the kick drum patterns to that song are fu--ing outrageous," he continued...The riff is heavy and very Pantera to the max, and it also has the huge chorus. Dimebag came up with the main riff while warming up for a show while Vinnie started tapping the beat on the wall. They were taping all of it for a home video so they were able to remember the riff.
"We had basically conquered the Dallas–Fort Worth local scene in Texas. Eventually, Pantera got signed to a major label, and we went out and did some touring. When we came home, our friends started treating us a little different because they thought it had gone to our heads, like we've got this rock-star thing embroidered across our faces. But I felt like I was always the same guy. When I wrote "Walk," I had just a handful of those people in mind. And basically, my message is, "Take your fucking attitude and take a fuckin' walk with that. Keep that shit away from me." At the time, I took it to heart, big-time. Kommentar: Hård, hårdare, Great Southern Trendkill. Phil Anselmos röst har förändrats. Det är råare, hårdare, mer innerligt och slitet. På 10's visar han vilken fantastisk pipa han besitter.
"Strange times for the band. Relationships with Phil were strained to the point where the man would record vocals in a different state altogether. He was nursing his back pain with heroin. Certainly it put the band in a tricky situation and yet they were able to create a hell of a strong album." -Drizoen

Kommentar: "Reinventing the Steel is the sound of Pantera trying to get one more album out before inter-member pressure, side-bands, as well as drugs and alcohol would inevitably destroy the band. Tensions were at an all-time high and the years since Trendkill were hard on Pantera. Still, it seems like they had just enough energy to pull together one more album. Reinventing the Steel is the album that shows what happens when the hardships that powered Trendkill go on for far too long and end up dragging the band down. There is good material on here, but it's in much sparser quantities than in earlier releases." -psychoticnicholai

Kommentar: Domination, Psycho Holiday, Primal Concrete Sledge, Heresy, Clash With Reality m.m. är fantastiska låtar. Det är INTE lätt att välja låtar från den här plattan.
"In 1987, Pantera auditioned a new vocalist named Phil Anselmo. The singer clicked with the rest of the band and the new lineup decided to change their image before releasing 1988's Power Metal album."

10. Låt: Floods

Kommentar: Led Pantera Zeppelin. Dimebag leker Jimmy Page och Anselmo påkallar sin mest innersta Robert Plant på Suicide Note Pt 1. Här finns flera fina lugnare låtar(ballader) i Floods, 10's och ovan nämnda Zeppelin-pastisch.
"I used to play a 20-minute solo that consisted of everything from [Eddie Van Halen's] "Eruption" to [Randy Rhoads'] "(Revelation) Mother Earth" — plus whatever else I felt like throwing in," Dime told Guitar World. "A regular part of my solo featured a long-assed, 'sing-along' type lead section, which ended up in 'Floods.'" -revolvermag

Kommentar: Första plattan som finns på spotify och det kan en förstå. Pantera startade som power/glam metal band och släppte fyra plattor (Metal Maniac, Projects in the Jungle, I am the Night och Power Metal) innan Cowboys from Hell som nog även de mest inbitna fansen helst vill glömma. Bröderna Vinnie Paul, Dimebag Darrell och Rex Brown startade bandet tillsammans medans Phil Anselmo joinade 1986, två år innan Power Metal spelades in.

"The story behind this song is we were opening for Megadeth, and there was a guy that was flipping us off the whole show and so we stopped the show. And I was like, 'Listen, in case you haven't noticed there's 18,000 people who really dig what we're doing. You're the only one doing that stupid shit without even having to egg the crowd on.' Ten guys just jumped the guy and beat the shit out of him. His dad called the manager after all the lawsuits and this and that, and basically said, 'Give me five minutes with that Phil Anselmo guy. I want to whup his ass."
